Overview
MK-NAOMI was a top-secret research program conducted between the CIA and the U.S. Army Biological Warfare Laboratories at Fort Detrick. Its primary focus was the stockpiling of severely lethal toxins and the engineering of delivery devices that could kill without leaving a trace during a standard autopsy.
The "Heart Attack Gun"
During the 1975 Church Committee hearings, the CIA was forced to reveal a specialized "dart gun" developed under MK-NAOMI. The gun fired a tiny frozen dart made of water and shellfish toxin that would dissolve inside the victim, causing a fatal heart attack and leaving only a microscopic pinprick on the skin.
Scope
The program also researched the use of biological agents to destroy crops (anti-agricultural warfare) and the development of "suicide pills" for captured agents.
