Overview
The Council on Foreign Relations (CFR) is a legitimate American think tank founded in 1921. However, conspiracy theorists argue that its high-level membership—including former presidents, CIA directors, and corporate CEOs—means it is the true source of American political decisions, regardless of which party is in power.
The "Globalist" Agenda
Critics, notably from the John Birch Society, allege that the CFR's goal is to erode U.S. national sovereignty in favor of a "New World Order" and a centralized global government. They point to the "revolving door" between the CFR and high-ranking positions in the State Department and Treasury.
