AbstractOriginal Exhibition Caption: In January 1934, Eleanor Roosevelt wrote to Walt Disney suggesting he make an animated film based on the story of Struwwelpeter (Slovenly Peter), a children's storybook character created by Heinrich Hoffman. In this letter, Disney reports that he read the story and was considering making it into a film. He subsequently explored producing a Silly Symphony cartoon short featuring the character but ultimately abandoned the project.
